The wave generator consists of a float and a further body. The float (S) executes pivot motions and the float has an expansion in the direction of the wave motion, which corresponds to half the mean water wave length. This further body is an inactive mass (M) and is arranged in the inside of the closed float (S). Alternatively, the further body is a float which is arranged in the wave motion direction near the first float (S) and is connected with this so that it can move. A piston mechanisms (P) arranged symmetrically or singly is pivoted (B, G) to the mass and float.
