1523471 Porcelain enamelling A-S SALEM Inc 18 Aug 1975 [26 Sept 1974] 34255/75 Heading C1M Metal surfaces have a fused ground coat of fused porcelain enamel of a first colour applied all over them with an additional fused enamel layer of varying hues and shades or a different colour or colours from the first colour, randomly distributed in spaced areas and in varying thickness. Exemplary methods of obtaining this effect are, after the application of a ground coat in each case: (1) applying porcelain enamel, submerging the coated article in an activated liquid to cause surface waves to lap on the coated surface and redistribute the enamel and then heating to fuse the coating; (2) applying a sticky combustible mask material in a random decorative pattern, drying and solidifying the mask material, applying the enamel layer, washing, drying and fusing the enamel, the mask being burnt off; and (3) applying a second layer of fused enamel, masking the surface, etching the surface with an acid, which may contain an inorganic colourant, washing acid away, drying and re-fusing. |
