The hood affording protection against the weather, and similar to a Balaclava helmet, covers the head, neck and shoulders of the wearer. The hood is made of a cylindrical or conical piece of material, with one edge (13) passing round the head, and with at least one (20) fastener. The top part (11A) of the hood can be cylindrical, and the lower part (11B) can be conical. The fasteners used for the hood can be buttons, with button holes press-studs, hooks and eyes, clips or elastic strips, ties etc. The hood can be made of woven, knitted, or elastic natural or synthetic textile material or of plastic. A slit down the front can be fastened by a sliding clasp closure, for example.
