The instrument applies the connecting clamp securing bone fragments, partic. those of the upper part of the thigh, during an operation for osteosynthesis. Plates are secured opposite each other on both sides of the bone and held by through bolts. It has pressure jaws of different widths adjustable by screw, gripping the fragments from opposite sides. To hold the plate (1), with tapped holes (13) in which the bolts engage, of the clamp, one jaw (5) has slots, while the second one (6) has a jig (15) for drilling holes through the fragments accurately in the direction of the tapped holes. The second jaw also has a slot and a locking screw (12).
