Novel machinery makes bags (10) with a reclosure strip (18) sealing the opening (32). Halves (20, 22) of the strip occupy opposite walls (12, 14), welded to them and to the two side seams (16) of the bag. The outer sealing jaws heat the region where the long, sealed seam (16) and reclosure strips (18) intersect, welding them together. In new design, an internal sealing jaw is used, with external jaws outside the bag walls, and positioned opposite to it. This arrangement completes the sealing of each half of the reclosure strip to its appropriate bag wall. |
