The support frame (2) for the satchel has a back and a lower part. The back part (10) has two outer longitudinal bars (14) which are connected at the top by a transverse bar (16) and by at least one transverse belt (18). These longitudinal bars are then bent down to form the outer bars (20) of the lower part (12) which are connected together by at least one transverse bar (22) so that a rigid container (4) can be fastened to the framework. The transverse belt between the longitudinal bars (14) is practically the only part to come into contact with the wearer so that it readily adapts to the shape of the wearer's back avoiding pressure points.
