NEW MATERIAL:Perfluoro(2-bromoethyl vinyl ether) of formulaI. USE:Useful as an intermediate for various fluorine-containing compounds, particularly a comonomer capable of imparting a reactive site to the fluorine-containing polymers, copolymerizable easily with a fluoroolefin, contributing to the improvement in the thermal and chemical stability of the copolymeric backbone without the deterioration in the polymerization rate, and further giving the flexibility, heat, chemical, solvent and oil resistance thereto. For example, a divinyl compound is prepared by the coupling reaction through the debromination. PROCESS:Bromodifluoroacetyl fluoride is reacted with hexafluoropropene oxide in the presence of a fluorine anion source, e.g. an alkali metallic fluoride in a solvent containing inactive hydrogen, e.g. diglyme, to give a compound of formula II, which is directly or hydrolyzed once, neutralized and thermally decomposed to afford the compound of formulaI. |
