PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter/receiver which enables the transmission/reception for optical signals between the terminal equipment of a network to connect plural pieces of terminal equipment through twist pair lines with feeder lines. SOLUTION: This device is provided with an electric connector 9 connectable with twist pair lines 10 with feeder lines, optical connector 8 connectable with optical fibers 18, peak hold circuit 3 for detecting the presence/absence of optical signals on the optical fibers 18, based on the output of an optical reception part 5, and bias circuit 1 for impressing bias voltages with respect to twist pair lines 12a and 12b. When the optical signals exist on the optical fibers, the bias circuit 1 impresses the bias voltages, and when the optical signals do not exist, the bias circuit stops impressing the bias voltages. Thus, the attachment/detachment of twist pair lines 10 with feeder lines or the optical fibers 18 is detected by the terminal equipment. |
