A honeycomb, porous pellets, or network of ceramics, heatresistant metal, or filaments loaded with Pt and/or Pd is coated with 10-60 micro thick AL2O3 (with >= 1 of SiO2, TiO2, CeO3, and ZrO3) to have BET sp. surface area >= 15 m2/g and pore vol. (N2 adsorption method) of -30 nm >= 0.02 ml/g totally but >= 100 m2/g and pore vol. of -10 nm >= 0.2 ml/g in the coating.
