ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVE-SHIELDING FABRIC AND GARMENT

PURPOSE:To obtain garment having excellent antistaticity and electromagnetic wave-shielding property, by producing a cloth with metal-coated synthetic resin multifilaments and inserting the cloth as an intermediate layer between the top fabric and backing fabric of a garment. CONSTITUTION:A gray fabric composed of multifilaments of a synthetic fiber such as polyester or polyamide is treated with an alkali to form a minute wrinkled unevenness on the surface of the filament and coated with a metal by electroplating. The bonding strength of the metal coating is improved by the anchoring effect caused by the minute wrinkled unevenness to improve the durability of electromagnetic wave-shielding capability against washing or dry- cleaning, etc. A garment is produced by inserting said electromagnetic wave- shielding fabric as an intermediate layer between the top fabric and the backing fabric of the garment.
