A system for containing paving material wherein a plurality of interlocked prefabricated concrete sections (10) are arranged in a predetermined pattern to contain the paving material. In a first embodiment, elongated sections (10) have male elements (26) at their ends and at least two sections (10) engage a coupler device (12) having female elements (42). The coupler devices (12) each comprise at least one recess, or female element (42), to receive the male element (26) on the section (10) ends and a pedestal portion (133) extending into the containment area, and fill material (62) overlying the surface of the pedestal portion to further resist separation. In a second embodiment, female elements (96) are at the ends of the elongated sections (10) and the coupler device (100, 102, 120) has complementary male elements (106, 108, 124, 126, 128) and a pedestal portion (109, 129, 131) extending into the containment area. |
