The fuel control appts consists of a burn-off control section for heating the hot wire of a hot air intake quantity sensor at a too high temperature after the engine has stopped. A voltage detector and a switching transistor stop the operation of the burnoff when an output from the sensor exceeds a set value. A signal is given to indicate trouble in the sensor. A signal generator stores a history of the stopping of the burn-off control section and produces a sigal indicative of a fault when the number of stops reaches a value higher than one.
