摘要 <p>The transmission system (10) has an operator actuated engine compression brake (17). The system senses vehicle deceleration and monitors throttle position (THL), vehicle brake actuation (BRK) and engine compression brake (ECB) actuation to select one of three mutually exclusive vehicle deceleration downshift profiles. The processing unit commands downshift in the third mode at engine speeds selected to result in insignficant vehicle engine braking. If during deceleration, either throttle position exceeds a set reference value or the compression brake is actuated, logic rules declare a performace/maximum braking condition. The shift profiles will result in the engine speed being at maximun value upon completion of the downshift.</p>
