PRODUCTION OF EXPANDED SYNTHETIC RESIN

PURPOSE:To produce an expanded synthetic resin prevented from deteriorating in strengths and adhesiveness, etc., by reacting an active hydrogen compound containing a polyol to which ethylene oxide is added with a polyisocyanate compound in the presence of water as a blowing agent. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. active hydrogen compound having at least two NCO- reactive active hydrogen functional groups and containing at least 30 pts.wt. polyol which is an ethylene oxide/polyol adduct in which the mol. wt. of the moiety comprising the added ethylene oxide amounts to at least 15wt.% of the mol. wt. of the entire polyol and which has a hydroxyl value <=400mgKOH/g is reacted with a polyisocyanate compound in the presence of a blowing agent comprising 3 pts.wt. water and optionally another blowing agent.
