Bending compensation roller - has oil forced out of secondary chamber by compressed air to reduce mass

To reduce the power consumption required by a bending compensation roller, in a papermaking machine, pressure medium is removed from the sec. chamber (17), and compressed air fed into the chamber (17). The compressed air fed into the sec. chamber (17) is under sufficient pressure to force out the oil, and a scraper (30) removes oil from the inner surface (14) of the roller mantle at the sec. chamber (17). The oil can also be removed from the chamber (17) by suciton of a syphon. An appts. (23,24) passes compressed air into the chamber. ADVANTAGE - The operation reduces the moving mass of the roller assembly.
