Reflector for concentrating solar radiation - has inner and outer mirrors of elliptical or hyperbolic form

A device for concentrating solar radiation consists of an inner mirror (1) and an outer mirror (2). The two mirrors have curved surfaces of elliptical or hyperbolic form and are geometrically similar. The upper edges (3) and (4) of the inner and outer mirrors respectively define the edges of the incident beam E of the radiation whilst the lower edges (5,6) define the edges of the reflected beam. The inner and outer mirrors are so positioned in relation to each other that a beam of light passing between the upper edges (3) and (4) of the two mirrors is reflected as a concentrated beam between the lower edges (5) and (6) of the two mirrors.
