PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detector for variable magnet linear motor in which any special reset operation is required after power interruption is recovered. SOLUTION: A current position calculating means calculates the current position of a moving piece 40 by counting up or down the detection signals of respective magnetosensitive elements 14a, 14b and 14c. When the current position of the moving piece 40 becomes indefinite due to power interruption or the like, a control means monitors the absolute position signal detected by an absolute position detecting means at the first operation of the moving piece 40 after power recovery. When the signal is varied, the current position value of the current position calculating means is reset to a corresponding absolute position. |
