PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material having excellent water resistance and plasticizer resistance by forming an intermediate layer on a thermal color forming layer from a coating solution containing a mixture of a specific binder, pigment and a crosslinking agent and further forming a surface gloss layer containing a hydrophobic high-molecular substance, a lubricant, pigment and a crosslinking agent thereon. CONSTITUTION:A thermal color forming layer containing a substantially colorless electron donating dye precursor and an electron acceptive developer reacting with the dye precursor under heating to develop a color is formed on a support. An intermediate layer formed from a coating solution containing a mixture of a binder composed of at least one of an aqueous solution of a water-soluble high-molecular substance and an emulsion of a hydrophobic high-molecular substance, pigment and a crosslinking agent as main components is provided on the thermal color forming layer and a surface gloss layer containing a hydrophobic high-molecular substance, a lubricant, pigment and a crosslinking agent as main components is formed on the intermediate layer. By this method, a thermal recording material excellent in water resistance, plasticizer resistance, glossiness and oil resistance can be obtained. |
