The installation comprises an inquiry unit with a high-frequency transmitter (2) and a response unit with a frequency divider (10) for the transmission frequency of the inquiry unit. The divided frequency, as the carrier frequency for transmission of the response, is modulated with data in a phase modulator (13) and the resultant phase-modulated signal is fed to a demodulator (28) of the inquiry unit. The data sequence is recovered in the demodulator independently of the phase from a non-modulated reference signal and the phase-modulated signal in accordance with an algorithm which is implemented by a signal processor. This arrangement operates particularly quickly and reliably. |
