Sewage sludge disposal - involves sedimentation in a container before passing solids to filter press

To produce sludge suitable for disposal, from sewage treatment, the solids are allowed to settle to give a sediment in a container, for a given time span, before passing to the filter press. The surplus liquid is decanted, and augmented by fresh water. The fluid sediment is then passed to the filter press. During sedimentation, the compsn. of the material is pref. modified according to its sedimentation behaviour or according to its vol. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is for the development of sludge, suitable for disposal, as a byproduct of sewage treatment. The method gives a sludge which can be disposed of, within the current regulations.
