A microsurgical instrument providing scissor action cutting elements (60, 62) at the end of an elongated tubular housing (12). One of the cutting elements is a non movable shaft (60) with a distal cutting blade (72) facing towards the proximal end of the housing. A second cutting element is a movable shaft (62) with a cutting blade (76) facing towards the blade of the non-movable shaft. The two shafts are biased towards each other so that when the proximal end of the movable shaft is attached to a motion producing portion of a handpiece, it is reciprocated relative to the non-movable shaft and its cutting blade, which produces a scissor cutting action. |
