PURPOSE:To prevent contamination of an ink jet recording head and drying of the ink and achieve a sure maintaining of good quality of an image at the starting of the printing. CONSTITUTION:A plate made of an anti-static plastic material is provided on a tip portion of a record head 100 having an ink-ejection device 120 wherein ink ejection nozzles 122 are aligned and an ink-supplying member. The plate is provided such that an opening section 155 thereof is fitted to the ink-ejection element 120 and a plate groove 1 56 is provided in the vicinity of the opening section 155. When the ink jet recorder is in the non-printing position, an elastic cap 200 is brought into contact with the plate face of the ink jet head 100 in such a manner that the top of the cap 250 passes above the plate groove 156 so that an inner section of the cap 200 is communicated to the open air via the plate groove 156, thereby eliminating the variation of the air pressure of the inner section of the cap due to the collision of the cap 200 with the ink jet record head 100. |
