Process for cleaning aluminum and tin surfaces

An aqueous alkaline cleaner and process for cleaning aluminum and tin surfaces. The aqueous alkaline cleaning solution includes (A) at least one inorganic base; (B) at least one cationic surfactant which is a quaternary ammonium compound; and (C) water. Aluminum and tin surfaces cleaned with the cleaning compositions are characterized by improved surface cleanliness and brightness.
