The unit is for instantaneously stopping the flow of a fluid pouring into a reservoir when the level of the fluid in the reservoir attains the desired height. It contains a tap (1) which has a quarter turn for closure, controlled by a lever (2) displacing under the combined action of two floats (3,4). One of the floats being so positioned that its centre of gravity is situated on the vertical passing through the control axis of the tap when the tap is in the open position.
