PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly detect a focusing state on an image pickup scene by providing a focus detecting means for detecting the focusing state of an image pickup optical system based on displacement detected by a displacement detecting means. SOLUTION: The image pickup optical system 1 forms light from a subject into an image. An optical element 2 is arranged on the image space side of the optical system 1 and divides the image space by dividing the light to transmitted light and reflected light in accordance with incident light. Plural image pickup means 3a and 3b are individually arranged in every image space divided into plural by the optical element 2, and an optical image divided and formed in every image space is picked up. The displacement detecting means 4 fetches image information from the means 3a and 3b and detects the displacement between the respective pieces of image information. The focus detecting means 5 detects the focusing state of the optical system 1 based on the displacement detected by the detecting means 4. Thus, the focusing state on the image pickup surfaces of the means 3a and 3b is directly detected. |
