<p>A fluid-damped automotive door latch actuator (14) comprising a fluid cylinder (30) mounted adjacent the inside surface of an escutcheon plate (10) between the door handle crank arms (20, 22). A shaft (24) connected to and extending between the crank arms (20, 22) is rotated to actuate the door latch. Damping action is caused in one embodiment by rotation of a shaft-mounted vane (32) relative to a cylinder housing (34) fixed to the escutcheon plate (10). In a second embodiment, the damper (30) is designed to provide a fluid shearing action.</p> |
