Furniture castor roller for assisted sideways movement

The castor roller (4) can move vertically within limits on or in a foot (1) and is pressed automatically onto the ground (7) with its peripheral surface (6) by a spring (5). The foot is hollowed out (2) to accommodate a sleeve (3) with a joined ball at its bottom end to be urged downward by the overlying coil spring. The outer rim of the ball is pressed to the ground thus forcing the standing surface (8) of the foot upwards. The spring is compressed under the weight of a seated user, thus moving the ball up so that the standing surface provides the braking effect at ground level.
