PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfactorily record and reproduce with a laser beam selected from a specific wavelength range by incorporating a compound represented by the specific formula in a recording layer in an optical recording medium having at least the recording layer and a reflecting layer on a substrate. SOLUTION: A compound represented by the formula is contained in a recording layer, wherein R1 to R8 are each independently a hydrogen atom, at most 20C substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an alkylthio group, an aryloxy group, an arylthio group, an alkenyl group, an aralkyl group, an acyl group, an aryl group, or an alkylsulfonic acid group, and X1, X2 are each independently an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom. The compound represented by such a formula is used in a recording layer, thereby realizing a writing once optical recording medium capable of recording and reproducing with a laser having a wavelength of 400 to 500 nm. |
