PRODUCTION OF ALKYLPHOSPHONOUS ESTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an alkylphosphonous ester which can be conducted in a simple way and enables a defined reaction product to be obtained in a high yield. SOLUTION: This method comprises the following steps: (a) reacting elemental white phosphorus with an alkylating agent in the presence of a base to obtain a mixture comprising (metal) salts of an alkylphosphonous acid, phosphorous acid and phosphinic acid as main ingredients; (b) esterifying the main ingredients of the above mixture to obtain an ester mixture; and (c) separating an alkylphosphonous ester from the ester mixture.
