PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine enabling operation inside the bed of the sewing machine without requiring removal of a needle plate. SOLUTION: A first lid 44 is fitted with both a first lid 46 for setting bobbins and a cover lid 54 for covering the upper portion of a cutting blade 62. Upon removal of the first lid 44 from the sewing machine, the second lid 46 is also removed, opening the upper portion of the bed part to expose a horizontally rotating shuttle. A recess in the form of a parallelogram which is approximately the same as the shape of a side of the cutting blade 62 and a blade anti-drop protrusion 54f are formed integrally with the lower surface of the cover lid 54 using a resin.
