The invention concerns a device for treating workpieces, in particular metal pieces, arranged in a treating chamber (17), by the impact of hard bodies, such as in particular metal or ceramic balls shot on said pieces (29) by a sonotrode (23a, 23b, 23c) excited by means (19, 21) for producing ultrasonic oscillations. This device is characterised in that it comprises: a series of adjacent treating chambers (17), at least one sonotrode (23a, 23b, 23c) which constitutes at least part of a wall of at least one treating chamber (17), and means for causing a displacement of these treating chambers (17) relative to the sonotrode (23a, 23b, 23c) so as to bring them successively in front of it.
