<p>A locking assembly (10) includes a key (12) having a key stem (13), the key stem (13) defining a key-to-actuator contact surface (15). A lock sleeve (16) defines an inner sleeve surface defining a substantially longitudinal sleeve longitudinal groove (22) and a substantially circumferential sleeve circumferential groove (24). A substantially cylindrical lock core (14) defines a core end surface (11), a core outer surface (88) and a key channel (30) extending substantially longitudinally from the core end surface (11) for allowing insertion thereinto of the key (12). The lock core (14) is supported by the inner sleeve surface (20) for selective rotation within the lock sleeve (16). a lock piece (18) is slidably mounted to the lock core (14) for slidable movement relative thereto between a retracted configuration and an unlocked configuration, the lock piece (18) including a lock piece tongue and a lock piece actuator (28). The key (12) and the lock piece actuator (28) are complementarily configured and sized according to three independent directional parameters so that only a predetermined three dimensional configuration of the lock piece actuator (28) allows for operational contact with the key-to-actuator contact surface (15) upon insertion of the key (12) into the key channel (30) so as to enable the key to move the lock piece (18) longitudinally relative to the lock core (14) from the retracted to the unlocked configuration.</p> |
