A computing device for communicating speech data with another device over a communications connection, the computing device comprising a memory for storing at least one text string and being arranged to establish a communications connection with another device and transmit speech data over that connection, identify that a text string stored in the memory is representative of information to be transmitted over the communications connection, convert the text string into speech data representative of the information to be transmitted over the communications connection and transmit the speech data to the other device over the communications connection. The invention aims to make it easier to transmit a telephone number using text to speech technology to the receiving party when the phone is on talk/voice mode. |
