A timing adjusting apparatus and a timing adjusting method are provided to properly adjust timing of an input signal and a voltage control signal of an amplifier by switching power and voltage of the linear transmitting amplifier according to the level of the input signal. A timing adjusting apparatus includes a power amplifying device, a timing error detecting device, and an adjusting device. The power amplifying device amplifies a transmission signal(Tx) from a main signal path(41) according to a voltage control signal(v) from a control signal path(42). The timing error detecting device calculates a phase difference between the main signal path(41) and the control signal path(42) based on a pre-amplification signal which indicates the amplitude or power of the transmission signal(Tx) before amplification, and a feedback signal(Fb) which indicates the amplitude or power of the signal after amplification. The adjusting device adjusts the delay of one or both of the main signal path(41) and the control signal path(42) to offset the phase difference. The timing error detecting device includes a detecting device which detects a polarity change point of a slope of a waveform of the pre-amplification signal or the feedback signal(Fb), and a phase difference measuring device which measures the phase difference by using the detected polarity change point.
