The seat and back-rest are formed of parallel slats mounted in steel frames articulated so as to permit the section at either end to be tilted to suit the individual taste of the user. Such alterations are effected by small electric motors, centrally mounted in each section and independently operated by control units through cable or infrared links. Manual operation is also possible. Seat and back-rest are completed by inflatable or other cushions serving as mattresses when used as a bed.
