A negative electrode active material for a lithium rechargeable battery is provided to remarkably improve charge and discharge efficiency, discharge capacity and lifetime property, to improve lithium absorption capability and to secure electrochemical reversibility. A negative electrode active material(220) for a lithium rechargeable battery comprises graphite particles(221) which can absorb and release the litium; and a metal composite(222) combined and formed on the surface of the graphite particles. The metal composite comprises a first metal compound(223) formed by the metal which does not alloy with the lithium and a second metal compound(224) formed by the metal alloying with the lithium. |
