PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition capable of achieving both of low rolling resistance and reinforcement performance without deteriorating processability and a pneumatic tire using the same.SOLUTION: The above described problem is solved by a rubber composition containing 100 pts.mass of a diene rubber, 10 to 200 pts.mass of carbon black and 0.1 to 20 pts.mass of a compound having a structure of quinones and a structure of sulfonic acid or salts thereof in a molecule and/or a compound having the structure of quinones and a structure of thiosulfuric acid or salts thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: None
