METHOD AND SYSTEM OF BIOGEOGRAPHY BASED OPTIMIZATION FOR LOCATION AREA PLANNING

A biographic optimization method for location area planning (LAP) comprises the steps of: setting an objective function for minimizing the total cost related to a cost associated with update of a location of a mobile terminal and paging in a location area (LA) wherein a plurality of cells contained in a wireless communication network are grouped; extracting initial values from initial habitats used for the biographic optimum technique; and grouping the plurality of cells into the LA by updating the initial habitats in order to optimize the objective function according to the biographic optimum technique.
