PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an unsaturated alcohol with a high yield and selectivity in the presence of a catalyst free from harmful catalyst components and consisting of less expensive materials. SOLUTION: An unsaturated alcohol is produced by hydrogenating an alkyl or alkenyl ester of an unsaturated fatty acid or a triglyceride having long-chain aliphatic unsaturated hydrocarbon groups in the presence of a catalyst composition consisting of zinc oxide and titanium oxide as a support, in which a weight ratio of the zinc oxide to the titanium oxide (zinc oxide/titanium oxide) is 5/95 to 45/55.
