In accordance with an embodiment, a method includes receiving by a drive circuit electrical power from a voltage tap of a first rectifier circuit that includes a load path and a voltage tap, and using the electrical power by the drive circuit to drive a second rectifier circuit that includes a load path. The load path of the first rectifier circuit and the load path of the second rectifier circuit are coupled to a common circuit node.

1. A circuit arrangement, comprising:
a first rectifier circuit comprising a load path and a voltage tap; a second rectifier circuit comprising a load path and a drive input, and configured to be switched on and off by a drive signal received at the drive input; and a drive circuit comprising a first supply input coupled to the voltage tap of the first rectifier circuit and a first drive output coupled to the drive input of the second rectifier circuit, wherein the load path of the first rectifier circuit and the load path of the second rectifier circuit are coupled to a common circuit node, and wherein the drive circuit is configured to drive at least the second rectifier circuit using electrical power received from the voltage tap of the first rectifier circuit.
