In a mowing machine of the kind in which a number of blades are each connected to a driving bar by means of a driving arm and reciprocated relative to a row of fixed blades, the movable blades being also tiltable about the axis of their driving arm, the driving point or end 8 of each drive arm is resiliently supported in the driving bar 7 by a pair of blocks 17, 19 slidably guided in directions at right angles to each other and contacting each other in inclined surfaces, a spring 21 acting on the block 19. The block 17 is guided in vertical surfaces 15, 16 on the driving bar 7. In a modification the surfaces 15, 16 are omitted, the blocks are arranged side by side and contacting in inclined surfaces. A spring acts on each side of the block assembly, one of the springs fulfilling the function of spring 21 and the springs together affording a protective system in the event that a movable knife becomes jammed, e.g. by a stone. |
