The edges of the out-of-round shape workpieces are given a rounded profile edge by rotation of the workpiece round a fairly symmetrical axis at 90 degrees to its plane, and profile rolling is carried out at several places simultaneously with different profile grooved rolls, the direction of rotation being reversed after several revolutions. The method is used for the shaping of the edges of electric iron sole plates. The finish obtd is equal to a ground finish and is much less expensive to produce.
