1,191,467. SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 cracking catalysts. W.R. GRACE & CO. 2 Nov., 1967 [2 Nov., 1966; (2) 3 Nov., 1966; 4 Nov., 1966], No. 49928/67: Heading B1E. SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 cracking catalysts are made by (i) introducing into a mixing zone an alkali metal silicate solution containing 1-15%SiO 2 , (ii) simultaneously introducing into the mixing zone an aluminium sulphate solution having a concentration of 10-90 gms/litre, the temperature of each solution being 70-150‹F thereby forming a SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 coprecipitate in the mixing zone as the two solutions mix, (iii) forming a slurry of the SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 , (iv) adjusting the pH of the slurry to 6-9 and (v) filtering, washing and drying the catalyst product. Additionally the catalyst may contain clay e.g. kaolin or a zeolite e.g. in its rare earth form. |
