<p>Velour carpets have a backing of a synthetic fabric, and a layer of adhesive, which retains the pile fibres in place, the fabric being composed of polyester, polyamide, or polyacrylonitrile fibres resistant to temps. up to at least 180 deg.C. The synthetic fibre backing gives a velour carpet of improved strength, and resistance to moisture and wear, while at the same time being lightweight. The adhesive layer serves to retain the pile fibres of the carpet in place. The resistance of the backing to high temps. enables the carpet to be impregnated/vulcanised with a latex, or coated with a plastic foam.</p> |
