1467107 Phosphorus-containing formamidines BAYER AG 22 April 1975 [25 April 1974] 16569/75 Heading C2P Novel compounds of the general formula wherein R is C 1 -C 4 alkyl and X is O or S are obtained by reacting a compound with an acetal wherein Alkyl is C 1 -C 6 alkyl, optionally in the presence of a solvent or diluent. The products have insecticidal, acaricidal and nematocidal properties and may be used as active ingredients in conventional pesticidal compositions. Specification 1,384,479 is referred to. The compound is obtained by dropwise addition of a solution of phenol and triethylamine to a solution of CH 3 P(S)Cl 2 in toluene at -20‹ to -10‹ C., stirring for 1 hour at 20‹ C., then cooling to -10‹ C., passing ammonia gas into the solution at -10‹ C., stirring for a further hour at 30‹ C. and then cooling to 20‹ C. and adding water to dissolve out the salts.
