Floating transfer vehicle for containers - has straddle hulls forming catamaran and supporting container on overhead hoist

The containers are slung from a frame (2) supported on two straddle hulls (1) open at the rear and joined at the bows. This forms catamaran type of transfer craft to move containers between an off-shore ship and the shore. The craft has wheels or tracks to operate as an amphibious vehicle. The containers are secured by slides (3) to relieve strain on the slings during transfer. The system enables containers to be transferred at ports without heavy lifting gear.
