摘要 <p>A method of detecting substances in a body in which the basic material has a different magnetic susceptibility from the substance material and is partially doped with these substances consists of subjecting the material to an external magnetic field. Measurements are taken of the change in the magnetic field along the length of the body produced by magnetising of the basic material and the substances. The body may be moved along a stationary magnetic field, or vice versa. Used esp. for pelletised uranium oxide fuel in long fuel rods. The method detects and locates of doped pellets, i.e. those contg. gadolinium oxide or the like which must only be used in certain regions of the reactor.</p>
