PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain an output easily read by laying out a document original image in an optimum way even when the document original image with a different form. SOLUTION: When the layout mode is selected, a document direction recognition section 109 analyzes each document original image read by an image read section 101 to discriminate a form of the document original, and a CPU circuit section 107 decides a layout form of each document original image stored in an image memory 105 based on the form of the document original discriminated as above and controls a layout output from an image storage section 104 based on the decided layout form.
