In the apparatus for removing gases from cylinders, which gases are stored in the liquefied state or together with a solvent under pressure, the cylinders (1) to be emptied are combined in a cylinder container (3, 4) to form a bunched unit. To ensure uniform removal of the gas from the cylinders (1), the cylinder container (3, 4) is put with its base (5) having passage openings onto a heating container (2) which is open at the top and in which a heating device (10) is arranged. Here, the heating device (10) can have heating elements which are fed with hot water and/or steam and are connected to a central heating system via supply lines and discharge lines. The cylinders (1) can be combined in the cylinder container (3, 4) to form two groups in such a way that a free space (15) screened from the cylinders by plates (16) and intended for easy accessibility to the cylinder container (3, 4) remains between the two groups.
