<p>Effluents discharged by means of suction pipes, e.g. sewage is processed by (a) passing the effluent to an evaporator (esp. a vacuum evaporator) to evaporate most of the water, (b) condensing and opt. recycling the water, and (c) passing the solids to a composting unit. The process can be integrated with a vacuum toilet system (e.g. as used on ships) and thus form a closed-circuit water supply for flushing without discharge of pollutants.</p> |
